HIGHLAND RESIDENCE

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA

Mid-Century Modern Revival estate

PROJECT TYPE
Single-Family Residential

STATUS:
Bidding

LOCATION:
Indianapolis, Indiana

SCOPE:
Architecture & Design

Set within a densely wooded, sloping site, Highland Residence is conceived as a quiet, linear intervention in the landscape—an exercise in restraint, proportion, and material clarity. The design embraces minimalism not as an aesthetic alone, but as a framework for organizing space, structure, and experience.

A singular horizontal volume floats lightly above the terrain, responding to the natural grade while minimizing disruption to the site. The elevated form allows the architecture to engage the slope strategically—integrating access, parking, and service functions below, while preserving uninterrupted living spaces above.

Material expression is deliberately restrained. A limited palette of warm wood, smooth concrete, and expansive glazing creates a composition that is both grounded and refined. The contrast between solid and transparent elements establishes rhythm along the façade, while framing curated views into the surrounding landscape.

Inside, the plan is organized for clarity and continuity. Open living spaces align with the long axis of the home, reinforcing the linear concept while maximizing daylight and visual connection to the outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling glass dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior, allowing the wooded setting to become an integral part of the living experience.

The project reflects a disciplined approach to modern residential design—where simplicity, structure, and site integration work together to create a calm, intentional environment. Highland Residence is not designed to compete with its surroundings, but to sit quietly within them, amplifying the character of the landscape through precision and restraint.
