The Bar Aria

TEMPE, ARIZONA

A SOPHISTICATED ART DECO INSPIRED RESTAURANT AND BAR ALONG THE SALT RIVER

PROJECT TYPE
Hospitality: Restaurant

STATUS:
Bidding

LOCATION:
Tempe, AZ

SCOPE:
Architecture & Design

The Bar Aria is a proposed art deco–inspired bar concept located in Tempe, Arizona. The project is focused on creating a refined hospitality environment that draws from historic design principles while responding to the local architectural context.

The design references both art deco geometry and Tempe’s connection to Frank Lloyd Wright, translating these influences into a contemporary framework. Line, proportion, and material are used intentionally to create a cohesive identity that feels structured and elevated without relying on literal interpretation.

The layout is organized around a central bar that anchors the space both operationally and visually. Circulation is clear and controlled, supporting efficient movement while maintaining a sense of intimacy throughout. Seating is layered to accommodate a range of use conditions, from active social zones to more private, lounge-oriented areas.

Material selection reinforces the overall concept. A restrained palette of rich finishes and defined detailing creates contrast and depth, supporting a sophisticated atmosphere. Lighting is used strategically to highlight key elements and maintain consistency across the space.

The Bar Aria reflects a focused approach to hospitality design—balancing historical reference, operational clarity, and a strong, contemporary identity within a compact footprint.
