TILDEN HOUSE ALTERATIONS AND RENOVATIONS / PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA
DCT Design Studio was initially retained to provide a conceptual redesign for an early 1900’s Philadelphia rowhome located in the city’s East Falls section. The new owner was looking to modernize the house and provide a new aesthetic while simultaneously creating a more efficient layout.
The 1,400 square foot residence was modified to create an open first floor capable of entertaining guests. The kitchen doubled in size, incorporating a large dining peninsula and upgraded appliances. The second floor of the home was completely gutted to add a second bathroom, generous owner’s suite with private bathroom, and a guest bedroom. The unit is the only home in the neighborhood which has a full roof deck, with gorgeous views of the Philadelphia skyline. It was critical that access to the roof deck was directly off of a shared corridor and no longer required passing through a bedroom.
The house previously lacked an overall design concept. DCT worked directly with the Owner to select a variety of finishes broadly ranging in color and textures to establish a comfortable, modern, and grounded living environment to compliment the client’s lifestyle aesthetic.
DCT Design Studio also provided construction document and administration services throughout the course of the project spanning 8 months from the start of Design Development to Final Completion.
